Building a New Lake County

Mark C. Curran, Jr. is a graduate of Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama with a degree in Business Administration and from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law with a Juris Doctor in Law.

Mark began his law enforcement career working as an intern in the Cook County States Attorneys Office in 1988 and the Lake County States Attorneys Office shortly thereafter.

Mark became an Assistant Lake County States Attorney in 1990 and left the Lake County States Attorneys Office in 1998 after having served as a Senior Felony Prosecutor responsible for handling many high profile cases.

Mark worked for the Illinois Attorney General’s Office from 1998 until 2002 where he was a Supervisor of Gang Crimes, among many other responsibilities.

Mark was also a Special Assistant United States Attorney from 1999 until 2002.

Mark has taught well over 100 semester hours at Columbia College of Missouri in Business Law and Criminal Justice.

Mark is a graduate of the Career Prosecutor Academy in Houston, Texas and the Suburban Law Enforcement Police Academy in DuPage County, Illinois. Sheriff Curran also graduated from the Illinois Chiefs of Police First Time Chief’s Conference and the National Sheriff’s Association First Term Sheriff Conference.

Mark was a highly respected litigator in private practice of Law from 2002 until 2006 as he received an AV rating from Martindale Hubbell, which is the highest possible rating in ethics and ability.

Mark was also selected by the Publication “Super Lawyers” as one of the top lawyers in the state of Illinois in 2006.

Mark also serves on numerous boards at the local, state and national levels.
